Mary Ocher
2 September 22.00, Festival centre @KKC | Free admission
Mary Ocher is Berlin based singer-songwriter, poet, director and visual artist persistently creating passionate, uncompromising work that is raw, thought provoking, socially and creatively pushing against the current. Four studio albums and a double anthology of home recordings feature influences from traditional folk to raw 60s garage, ambient with ethereal vocals and abstract synths, to experimental pop with African and South American rhythms. Mary was born in Moscow, an only child to a voice and puppet theatre actor father and an unemployed engineer mother both of Jewish Ukrainian descent. Her family immigrated to Israel in 1991 and settled in a kibbutz in Negev.
